Whales!
According to my pinterst and polyvore finds, I have acquired a bit of a thing for whales... They are cute!

The sweater, and other great knitted wearable creations, can be found at ... The adorable baby dress can be found here at ... , and the wearable wellies are at ... .
This week I also found this touching article floating around pinterst about a whale rescue. It's rare and lifting to find a humanistic story like this one.

This week I also found this touching article floating around pinterst about a whale rescue. It's rare and lifting to find a humanistic story like this one.
''This story makes me tear up every time I read it!! The Whale… If you read a recent front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.''
Happy weekend!

Summer Beach Day: Blue Suit
Ok. I know I'm in a no-spend zone, and the last thing I need is another bikini set to sit unused in a box in my attic all summer (I've been to the beach once this summer so far! What has happened to me?!), but...
I spotted this on an Honestly WTF post (about visors) and had to investigate. Those bottoms are adorable: perfectly placed ruffles (ruffle fanatic over here!), perfect shade of bright cobalt, hipster cut (for a little wedgie resistance). The halter/bandeau top is pretty awesome too!
Ridiculously affordable over at Topshop!
I overheard a conversation at my daughter's daycare about Moms and bikinis. Though I'll not be indulging in any new clothing this summer, should I be thinking about giving up my bikinis for a one-piece?
For the moms out there, tell me about your transition into mom-wear!

Hello Kitty Cuteness
I love Hello Kitty. I know there may be some of you who are cringing as you read this, so I will seldom mention it (though it may creep in from time to time) and am posting this early in my bloggerhood just to get it out there, be done with it and have it buried in future posts. I seldom indulge in much of the incredible amount of Hello Kitty crap-ola out there, but I do love it. Its the deadly cuteness, the friendliness, the girliness, the bright, happy colors, the simplicity of the graphics and the marketing genius of it all.
Luckily, I have a daughter. When I was pregnant I swooned over the baby pink and light purple Hello Kitty crib bedding, and (thank you Mimi!) that was the start of my daughter's own Hello Kitty obsession. Now that she's two-and-a-half, she consequently thinks that anything that has Hello Kitty on it is hers, even if it's a little notebook, pen, or notepad intended for myself.
So here are few things I would love for Kara (she's going through shoes faster than she's growing out of them!) and a few things (perhaps practical, possibly not embarassing myself) for Mommy:
Old Navy Hello Kitty Dancer Tees for Baby
$11 - oldnavy.gap.com
So, I would love to hear about your *secret* (or maybe not so secret) indulgence! What's your guilty and quirky pleasure?

Etsy Fave: Friendly Signs
Etsy is one of those genius, inspiring and addictive websites. Even if you're not a shopper, its just fascinating to see what people all around the world are creating.
These signs, hand cut and distressed, made from reclaimed wood, would look great hanging in a front entryway, in a bookshelf (or my dream book display shelves) or among family photos (always thinking about creating a photo wall or an art wall!) Find the OhDier shop (and some prints... this guy does it all) here.
I had such a hard time choosing what to share from his site, but I think my favorite may be this one... so random! Ha! Love it.

Working Motherhood
This morning I found that the fabulous (and genius) Miss Jo of the Cup of Jo blog is doing a series this week on working moms! With guest posts from blogger moms giving us a peek into their schedules and helpful ideas on how they make it all work.
I can't even tell you how perfectly timed this is...
I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and after checking it three times ("Let me do that again, that can't be right!") my blood pressure turned out to be 135 over 85. Stress. My 'trick' (which obviously isn't quite working) is to eradicate it where and whenever possible, which in most cases neither is possible, hence the stress. Move to plan B, which is to find ways to deal better with stress. It comes down to the little things. Be healthy: drink water, eat healthy, exercise, take your vitamins. Make lists, fill in your calendar, stay financially aware, plan for the future, don't beat yourself up -ever. Figure out what you would be doing if you had all the time in the world and once in a while drop everything to do just that, and don't beat yourself up. Things that don't get done can be added to all the other things that don't get done -add to all the other things that you demand from your life that you live it. Our kids will grow up (sooner that we think) and thank us. (Or not. Ha!)
Another inspiring, motivated, successful, working mom with a hilariously funny take on all things motherhood is Sheridan French, of the the blog The Southern Eclectic. This post in particular had me in tears the first time I read it (the happy, trying-not-to-pee-yourself kind of tears).

Letterpress Goodness
Over the past few months I have discovered that I am a fan of letterpress... Another personal development as a result of becoming obsessed with Pinterest.
So a curated haven for letterpress artwork (and a great many other things) is this lovely, fun site called Felt & Wire Shop...
After spending most of my free time there today, looking for a little visual pick-me-up therapy, I found the 'Nest' tab has just what I need, for a lift as well as food for thought. I wouldn't mind some of this stuff hanging up in my home -after I actually get some pictures of my family hung!
